The
beloved writer of generations of Bulgarians, Dimitar Dimov, died
suddenly on April 1, 1966, at the Bucharest airport while waiting for
return flight to Sofia. A day earlier, on March 31, he left for the
Romanian capital for a meeting in his capacity as chairman of the
Union of Bulgarian Writers. He left from his apartment at 26 Krastyo
Sarafov Street in the Lozenets district - today the Dimitar Dimov
House Museum.
For
50 years, the National Literary Museum has been preserving the
cultural heritage of Dimitar Dimov.

In the last home of the writer,
scientist, artist and encyclopaedist, the atmosphere of the last 12
years of his life remains preserved, as well as the picture from the
moment before his departure for Bucharest.
In
the house museum, visitors can see the study of the author, the
laboratory of the scientist and avid photographer, as well as a
documentary exhibition tracing moments from his life and creative
path.
