An exhibition dedicated to Bulgaria’s kukeri opened on March 30 at the Central Library of Edinburgh, Scotland, and will continue until April 30. The exhibition includes works by students from the First Bulgarian Sunday School “Nadejda Stancioff – Lady Muir” in the city, the Bulgarian educational center announced on Facebook. The exhibition “Kukeri Dancing in Scotland” is part of the “Living Heritage” initiative and includes masks, drawings and exhibits inspired by Kukeri dancing as part of the intangible cultural heritage.

The first Bulgarian school in Scotland was founded by Spas Yanev and Daniela Yaneva on February 14, 2015. In 2017, a Bulgarian Cultural and Educational Center in Scotland was established to administer the school's activities. Five teachers currently teach over 115 children aged 3 to 19 from different parts of Scotland - from preschool groups to 12th grade, BTA recalls.
