BNR Children’s Choir to sing at cherry blossom festival in Sofia

The Bulgarian National Radio Children’s Choir will take part in a spring celebration marking the blooming of Japanese cherry trees on 2 April at 16:00 local time, in front of the Sts Cyril and Methodius National Library in Sofia, organisers said.

Hanami is a traditional Japanese festival celebrating the cherry blossom season. It has been celebrated in Bulgaria in front of the National Library building since 2000.

Alongside the BNR Children’s Choir, the event will feature students and teachers from the Japanese language programme at the 138th Secondary School “Prof Vasil Zlatarski”, as well as representatives of the Soga Ikebana school. The Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria, Chikahisa Sumi, will attend as a special guest.
