A draft amendment to Bulgaria’s Foreigners Act proposes allowing holders of a single residence and work permit to change employers while remaining in the country.
According to the BTA news agency, under current legislation, foreign nationals with long-term residence status are not permitted to change employers while staying in Bulgaria.
The proposed changes would also prevent foreign workers from immediately losing their right to stay in the country if they become unemployed. They would be able to register with labour offices during periods of unemployment without this automatically resulting in the termination of their legal residence.
Additionally, amendments to the Health Act are expected to guarantee access to healthcare for third-country nationals undergoing screening procedures.
