The caretaker government has published on the website of the Council of Ministers the security cooperation agreement between Bulgaria and Ukraine. The 10-year agreement was signed in Kyiv on March 30 by caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the text, Bulgaria will continue military assistance to Ukraine in line with its capabilities. Sofia will continue to provide political and practical support to Ukraine, including within NATO and the EU, and will support Ukraine’s efforts to join both organizations. Bulgaria will also continue to provide humanitarian assistance and civil protection to the Ukrainian people for as long as necessary.
“In order to ensure security and freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, Bulgaria and Ukraine will enhance their cooperation to counter threats, including through the use of existing or new tools, mechanisms and initiatives, promoting stronger coordination among coastal partners and allies and a broader NATO presence in the Black Sea region. Bulgaria will cooperate with Ukraine on demining the Black Sea.”
