The caretaker government is preparing a draft regular budget to propose if the next parliament lacks a governing majority, caretaker Minister of Finance Georgi Klisurski told public service broadcaster BNT.

He announced that the caretaker cabinet will submit a request to the European Commission for the fourth payment under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, amounting to around EUR 900 million. Minister Klisurski warned that Bulgaria could lose up to EUR 800 million due to reform bills in the energy and water sectors not being passed.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance reported that the budget deficit at the end of February stands at EUR 569 million, or 0.5% of the projected GDP. The fiscal reserve amounts to EUR 6.606 billion.
