Two weeks before the parliamentary elections on April 19, reports of election-related crimes are several hundred percent higher than those received during the previous elections in October 2024, said caretaker Interior Minister Emil Dechev in Balchik, where he attended the opening of the renovated building of the regional Fire Safety and Civil Protection service.
“For us, this shows increased public trust in the work of the new leadership of the Ministry of Interior. Precisely because trust has increased, the number of reports is much higher,” the minister commented.
Dechev stated that authorities are working on reports involving various schemes. “Lists of names have been confiscated, and in the same rooms as the lists, ID cards were also found. Money has been discovered at the same locations as well,” he explained.
The minister assured that the Interior Ministry is working without double standards and not only in certain regions. According to him, lists of names and prepared sums of money have even been found in hair salons
