To have a successful tourist season, it is necessary for Bulgaria to be presented as a safe destination with competitive prices. This position was expressed by President Iliana Iotova during a meeting with the caretaker Minister of Tourism, Irena Georgieva, reported BNR journalist Mira Stefanova.

According to the head of state, businesses should be supported due to the increased prices of energy resources, and price hikes for services for both Bulgarian and foreign tourists should be avoided. Iliana Iotova also stated that Bulgaria can benefit from the decline of tourists in destinations closer to the conflict in the Middle East by focusing on targeted advertising as a safe country.

“It is also important that pre-election rhetoric does not speculate on people’s fears and does not negatively affect Bulgaria’s image as a safe place for vacation,” Iliana Iotova also said.
