More than half a million euros have been seized so far - an amount comparable to the budget of a small municipality - money intended to distort the will of Bulgarian citizens, said caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov in a video dedicated to the fight against vote buying. “I have ordered that every signal be carefully reviewed, every violation pursued, and the results are undeniable,” he stated in the video distributed on social media.
Gyurov was firm that the times of notebooks with names, bundles of cash, and people voting under pressure are over. “Today the government is working, and the Ministry of Interior is not a bystander but on the front line,” he added.
According to data presented by the prime minister, reports of vote buying and election violations are seven times higher, while initiated proceedings and detained individuals are four times more compared to the previous elections.
“This is not just statistics - it is a clear sign that citizens and the government are on the same side,” Andrey Gyurov concluded.
