From June, direct passenger trains will begin operating between Bulgaria and Ukraine via Romania. The three countries agreed on the main parameters of the service at a meeting held today in Ruse, the press center of the Ministry of Transport and Communications announced.
The passenger rail connection will initially be launched as a seasonal service during June, July, and August, and will run daily along the route Kyiv – Bucharest – Ruse – Varna and обратно, making it one of the longest railway routes in Europe.
During the first three months, passenger demand will be assessed, and if the results are positive, the service may become year-round.
