The lack of real guarantees for the Bulgarian community is a major problem in relations with Skopje and in North Macedonia's European integration. This was what Deputy Foreign Minister Marin Raykov told BNT. He pointed out that changing the constitution of North Macedonia is a basic condition for progress in negotiations with the EU.

According to Raykov, certain circles in Skopje want to waste more time of North Macedonian citizens. Regarding the action plan proposed by Skopje for the rights of communities, the diplomat noted that representatives of the Bulgarian community have already rejected it because it does not provide effective protection against violations.

Over 210,000 people from North Macedonia have proven their Bulgarian origin with documents, the deputy minister also said. He pointed out that this necessitates the need for clear guarantees for the rights of the Bulgarian community there.
