Dubai requests extradition of Arab prince held in Bulgaria

The prosecutor’s office has announced the arrest in Bulgaria of a citizen of the United Arab Emirates who has been wanted under an Interpol Red Notice since 1 December last year, at the request of Abu Dhabi.

The detainee is a sheikh from the United Arab Emirates royal family, a cousin of the king and a grandson of the first sheikh of the Emirates, reports BGNES, citing "Nova TV".

The Dubai prosecutor has issued an arrest warrant for the prince to serve a sentence for fraud. He was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and a fine of approximately 5 million euros. Abu Dhabi has informed the Bulgarian prosecutor’s office that it is seeking his extradition to the UAE.
