Energy Minister: Chaira plant is important for the balance of the energy system

Two of the four hydro units of the Chaira Pumped Storage Hydro Power Plant are operating and this is important for our electricity system. The benefits are not only the production of electricity, but also the fact that it serves as a balancing power. This was what caretaker Minister of Energy Traycho Traykov said during an inspection of the functionality of hydro unit 3 of Chaira PSHPP after the completion of the facility's repair and the conduct of the final tests. The unit will operate in test mode until receiving document for official commissioning. Hydro Unit 2 is also operating. It will be put into pumping mode today, when prices are low, Traykov said.
