Tarnovo Ultra to draw over 2,000 runners and cyclists

More than 2,000 people have registered to take part in the 11th Tarnovo Ultra race, which will take place in Veliko Tarnovo on 10 and 11 April.

Around 1,600 people will participate in the running events and 420 in the cycling races, said Deputy Mayor Georgi Nedev, who is also one of the main organisers alongside Ivan Dimitrov of the Brown Team sports club.

The races will start from the city centre, with routes passing through some of the most scenic areas in the region, including near the Tsarevets and Trapezitsa fortresses.

The cycling event begins on Friday at 11:00, while the running races start on Saturday at 09:00. Distances range from 2 km for children to 51 km for runners and 55 km for cyclists.

According to the organisers, last year's event attracted between 7,000 and 8,000 visitors to the city, as participants usually travel with family and friends.
