The “Threads of Time” project, dedicated to traditional crafts, will launch in April at the State Cultural Institute “The Palace” in Balchik.
Over several themed weeks throughout spring, summer and autumn, visitors will be able to observe and take part in different stages of traditional textile craftsmanship.
The programme will begin from 10–16 April with the collective weaving of a woollen carpet and a demonstration of silkworm cultivation. From 5–11 May, the formation of silk cocoons will be presented, followed by silk thread reeling from 1–7 June.
Summer events will include demonstrations of dyeing silk and wool with natural and acid dyes (19–25 July) and apron weaving (12–18 August). The programme will conclude in September with the creation of a headscarf adorned with silk fringes (18–24 September).
