Easter — the feast of feasts marking the Resurrection of Christ — is a time for joy shared with those closest to us. It is also a time for travel: welcoming Easter in a new place, amid the festive decorations of churches and public spaces, can bring a sense of renewal. Here is a virtual tour across Bulgaria, highlighting Easter displays that add colour to the spring holiday:

Dobrich, northeastern Bulgaria
The ethnographic complex “Old Dobrich” is welcoming visitors with themed decorations inspired by traditional Bulgarian life. Alongside the team of the Regional History Museum, volunteers have joined efforts to turn the site into a vibrant and uplifting space, according to the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA).

Students in Gotse Delchev have decorated large Easter eggs that form part of the festive display in the town centre.

Easter decorations are delighting residents and visitors alike. Large decorative eggs and rabbits have been placed in the garden by the Clock Tower and in the city park. A colourful Easter arch links the municipal cultural centre with the monument to Master Manol, while a designated photo area has also been set up.

Dozens of brightly coloured Easter eggs, decorated with flowers, messages, biblical scenes and characters created by local writer and artist Dimitar Chorbadzhiyski — Chudomir, are on display in park areas near Sevtopolis Square. The eggs have been painted by children from local schools and kindergartens as part of an exhibition titled “Colourful Easter”, BTA reported.

Sliven, southeastern Bulgaria
Students from the Dimitar Dobrovich National High School of Fine Arts are presenting diverse interpretations of the Easter egg as a bearer of spiritual meaning. Their works are part of the annual “Painted Easter Egg – 2026” competition, organised by Sliven municipality and the National Academy of Arts.

Sofia
Students from nine schools in the capital have taken part in a municipal initiative to create Easter decorations. Their painted eggs are displayed at prominent locations including the square in front of St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Vitosha Boulevard, Borisova Garden and the City Garden, where residents and visitors can view and photograph them.
