Traffic at all of Bulgaria’s border checkpoints was normal as of 6AM local time on April 11, 2026, along the country’s borders with Romania, Greece, Turkey, North Macedonia and Serbia.

At the Danube Bridge between Ruse and Giurgiu, a temporary traffic arrangement has been in place since April 9, with movement allowed in both directions. Normal traffic regulation is expected to resume at 0800 on April 14.

At the border with Greece, only passenger cars and minibuses of up to 3.5 tonnes are allowed to pass through the Rudozem, Zlatograd, Makaza and Ivaylovgrad crossings. Passenger cars, buses and freight vehicles are permitted through the Kulata, Ilinden and Captain Petko Voyvoda crossings.

On April 10, nine serious road accidents were reported across the country, leaving 19 people injured. Since the beginning of the year, 98 people have been killed and 1,712 injured in road accidents in Bulgaria.
