Interest in spa tourism in Bulgaria has increased by 15% in recent years, caretaker Tourism Minister Irena Georgieva said in an interview with BNT.

She added that cultural tourism is also attracting visitors from new markets, supported by improved air connectivity. More and more European tourists are answering positively the question of whether Bulgaria is worth visiting, she said.

The country has more than 200 certified spa, wellness, and medical spa centres.

From 11 to 13 May 2026, the leading European health tourism event, the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT, will take place in Varna and the nearby resorts of Saints Constantine and Helena, Golden Sands and Albena.
