A festive Easter service in Bulgarian, led by Metropolitan Anthony of Western and Central Europe, is taking place in Dublin, Ireland today at 10:30am local time at All Hallows Chapel on the DCU campus.

This event is particularly significant, as it will be the first time in several years that the Bulgarian community in Ireland has celebrated the Resurrection of Christ together.

A team from Radio Bulgaria will attend the service, as will BNR Director General Milen Mitev.

The popular quartet Svetoglas will also perform at the Easter service in Dublin. Their album of Orthodox chants, Ancient Hymns of Orthodoxy – Music from the Monasteries, was recently released by BNR. Following the service, the quartet will give a festive concert. The Bulgarian Embassy in Dublin will host a reception for the community.

Over the years, clergy from the diocese have periodically held services for Bulgarians in Ireland on major Christian feast days. In 2011, Metropolitan Anthony served in Ireland in his capacity as vicar bishop to the then Metropolitan of Western and Central Europe, Simeon.
