The Resurrection of Christ is “the most long-awaited and deeply desired event in human history”, foretold by the prophets of the Old Testament, witnessed by the holy apostles and the myrrh-bearing women, and sealed by the blood and suffering of countless martyrs and confessors of the faith, the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church said in its Easter message.

The Synod called on the faithful “to embrace the enduring virtues of the Gospel, to take part in the sacramental life of the Holy Orthodox Church, to follow the example of the saints, to forgive one another, to be merciful, and to resist individualism, addictions, divisions and alienation among us, as well as every sin ‘which so easily entangles us’ (Hebrews 12:1)”.

“We extend our heartfelt wishes to all children of our Holy Church in Bulgaria and beyond for health, peace, spiritual strength and Paschal joy,” the Synod said.
