Тhe 90-day fuel reserves should not be used to reduce prices, but should be preserved as a buffer in case of a physical shortage. This was stated by the caretaker Minister of Energy, Traycho Traykov, to journalists after the opening of the National Repository for Radioactive Waste in the town of Kozloduy.

According to him, the increased fuel prices have not significantly affected consumption. The minister announced that in the coming days approval is expected from the European Commission for a scheme to support energy-intensive industry, and the measure will preserve jobs and the competitiveness of companies.

According to Traykov, administrative or so-called coercive measures such as price caps can lead to shortages and disruptions in supply chains, which ultimately results in higher prices, as reported by Bulgarian News Agency.
