The state-owned company Bulgargaz has proposed a natural gas price for May of €35.98 per megawatt-hour, excluding access, transmission, excise, and VAT costs. This is stated in an application submitted to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, which is set to review the pricing proposal. The application has been published on the Commission’s website.

For April, the price approved by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission is €34.27 per megawatt-hour. This means that the price proposed by Bulgargaz for May is higher by 4.99%.

The regulator is expected to hold a public hearing on Bulgargaz’s proposal, after which it will make a final decision on the natural gas price for May during a closed session.

Since the start of the war with Iran, other hydrocarbon fuels in the country have increased in retail prices by between 20% and 45%.
