The first andcurrently only Bulgarian women’s choir in Belgium - Bulgapeya- is celebrating seven years since its founding. On this occasion, on April 19 at 4:00 PM, the a cappella group will perform a concert in Brussels at Église Sainte-Anne (Chaussée de Tervueren 89, 1160 Auderghem).
The audience will hear songs from the seven folklore regions of Bulgaria, revealing the richness and diversity of Bulgarian musical tradition.
“Bulgarian folklore is not a passing trend, but a tradition that comes from eternity and goes far into the future. We are ambassadors of this tradition here, telling the Bulgarian story through songs rooted in our homeland,” said conductor Nadezhda Nikolova.

“At Bulgapeya’s concerts, the audience is international. These are people who appreciate Bulgarian folklore. Brussels is a city with people of all nationalities, and Bulgarian folklore resonates with them. Many have already heard Bulgarian song and dance traditions and come out of curiosity, but leave enriched in some way, because our music is magic,” added conductor Nadezhda Nikolova.
In memory of the emblematic Bulgarian folk singer Yanka Rupkina who passed away days ago, the choir will perform the song “A Young Maiden Set Off”, arranged by Stefan Kanev especially for Trio Bulgarka.
