Steven Pinker becomes Doctor Honoris Causa at Sofia University

Prof. Steven Pinker from Harvard University was awarded the honorary title “Doctor Honoris Causa” by Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. The solemn ceremony was held in the auditorium of the Rectorate.

Prof. Steven Pinker is a Canadian-American cognitive psychologist and linguist, one of the most influential intellectuals in the field of cognitive sciences, psychology of language and evolutionary psychology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. At the ceremony, on behalf of the Rector of Sofia University, Prof. Dr. Georgi Valchev, the Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Reneta Bozhankova, read the text on the awarding of the title to Prof. Steven Pinker. The text was read in Old Bulgarian and Latin.
