Bulgarian storyteller Nana Tomova, who has lived in Scotland for years, has published a book titled Bulgarian Folk Tales in English in the United Kingdom, BG BEN reported.
“Told, retold and interpreted with wisdom and joy, elegantly structured to reflect the seasons of the Earth, this collection of folk tales is magical in every sense. Reading these stories is like sipping a fine aged wine by candlelight in a dragon’s cave. It transported me to the creative dawn of Thrace, the Balkans and Bulgaria — and into my own psyche,” writer Kapka Kassabova said of the book.
Kassabova described the collection as “magical in every sense”, highlighting its connection to the cultural heritage of Thrace and the Balkans.
The book’s illustrations are by Rima Staines.
Inspired by her work in mental health, Tomova regularly tells stories on her podcast The Story Apothecary, where she “dispenses stories as medicine”. She has taken part in the Brighton Fringe Festival and the Scottish International Storytelling Festival.
