“I voted so that there will soon be a functioning National Assembly, that its leadership will be elected quickly, that we will not once again witness bargaining and delays as in previous times, and that there will be a fast and strong government, because the problems cannot wait,” said President Iliana Iotova to journalists after casting her vote electronically in the early parliamentary elections.
The Bulgarian head of state shared that there was a minor issue with the voting machine. “The paper inside got stuck, but it was fixed within seconds. I have always trusted machine voting, and I have always voted by machine. This is technology, I do not think there was any intent,” she said.

According to Iliana Iotova, a normal, functioning, and proper state budget must be adopted as soon as possible, as entire systems are currently stalling.
“We must ensure that the government has a strong and influential voice among our European partners and within the European family. The international situation is difficult, with conflicts on both sides, and we need to come out of this crisis together,” she added.
