“Freedom is no longer a question of ‘can we,’ but ‘what did we choose,’” wrote caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising.
The April Uprising – a peak in the liberation struggles of the Bulgarian
He added that 150 years ago, the young “komiti” (revolutionaries) rose up so that all Bulgarians could have the right to choose. “Today we have it. And we exercised it,” the caretaker prime minister wrote.
According to him, freedom is not a one-time awakening. “It is the necessity to remain awake, to think, to be vigilant, and not to remain silent if it becomes necessary to defend our freedom.”
“Respect to the heroes of the April Uprising,” Gyurov wrote.
