Nurgyul Salimova placed third among women at the
European Individual Chess Championship in Katowice, Poland. The
22-year-old Bulgarian collected 6.5 points in 11 rounds, which gave
her a shared 113th position in the overall standings of the open
tournament in which men and women are ranked together.
Among the
participating female players, only two performed better than the
Bulgarian player. Also with an asset of 6.5 points, the first is the
European Women's Champion of 2025, Teodora Injac from Serbia. She is
in 93rd place, while Stavroula Tsolakidou from Greece is 108th.
