Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky represented Bulgaria at today’s meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg, which focused on the situations in Ukraine, the Middle East, the South Caucasus and Sudan.
“The wars in Iran and Ukraine are interconnected and form an arc of instability spanning Europe and the Middle East. These parallel conflicts risk draining resources and creating opportunities for coordinated action against the rules-based international order,’ she told the forum.
‘In this context, it is essential to work towards common positions within the EU and NATO, as any fragmentation weakens our collective response,’ she added.
According to Neynsky, the most significant outcome of recent bilateral contacts is the signing of a 10-year security cooperation agreement between Bulgaria and Ukraine.
‘A sovereign, stable and secure Ukraine is key to the security of Europe as a whole,’ the Bulgarian Foreign Minister stressed.
