The Botanical Garden of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (Sofia, 22 Ring Road) is launching its annual initiative “Spring Meetings with Plants” on April 22, in connection with Earth Day, organisers said.
This year’s themed exhibition is titled “Succulent Plants – the Art of Beautiful Survival.” It features specimens from the garden’s succulent collection — the largest on the Balkan Peninsula.
“Where the wisdom of life meets the harshness of the environment, some of the most fascinating and unusual plants are born,” the organisers said. The exhibition will be open to visitors until May 3, between 10:00 and 16:00.
The garden’s tropical greenhouse also showcases orchids, bougainvillea, hippeastrum and thunbergia, while magnolias and other spring flowers can be seen outdoors.
