Bulgaria’s 2025 budget deficit at 3.5% of GDP, statistics institute says

Bulgaria’s budget deficit stood at 4.113 billion euros, or 3.5% of gross domestic product (GDP), in 2025, according to preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute.

The figure is higher than the 3.1% deficit, equivalent to 6.83 billion lev (about 3.49 billion euros), reported by the caretaker government on Feb. 2.

Public debt rose to 34.64 billion euros in 2025, or 29.9% of GDP, the institute said.
