Registrations of new cars in Bulgaria increased by 6.2% in March 2026 compared to the same month last year. A total of 4,481 cars were registered in March.
The growth is mainly driven by electrified vehicles. Electric cars increased by 60.8% to 349 units, plug-in hybrids rose by 110% to 82, and hybrids increased by 106% to 231.
Petrol-car registrations declined by 3.7%, while diesel vehicles increased by 22.4%.
A total of 11,606 new cars were registered in the first quarter of the year, representing a year-on-year decline of 1.2%. The data shows that despite a stronger March, the domestic market remains slightly below the levels recorded in the same period of 2025.
