Voter turnout in the latest parliamentary elections exceeded 51%

The Central Election Commission announced the distribution of seats among political parties in the 52nd National Assembly. “Progressive Bulgaria” will hold a majority with 131 MPs. GERB–SDS will have 39 members of parliament, “We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” will have 37, the “Movement for Rights and Freedoms” (DPS) – 21, and “Vazrazhdane” – 12.

The Central Election Commission is expected to announce the names of all elected MPs to the 52nd National Assembly on Saturday, 25 April. Thirteen MPs have been elected from two constituencies and must indicate which one they will represent in Parliament. Twenty-one candidates have submitted requests to decline their seats in Parliament and the Central Election Commission has approved these requests. Nineteen of them are from DPS, one is from “Progressive Bulgaria” and one is from GERB.

Voter turnout in the 19 April election reached 51.11%, said the Central Election Commission’s Deputy Chair and Spokesperson Rositsa Mateva. A total of 3,360,330 citizens cast their ballots.
