CITUB reports 2.3% rise in the cost of living

818 euros are needed per month to support the living expenses of a worker living alone, according to the latest data from the Institute for Social and Trade Union Research and Training at the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) for the first quarter of 2026.

The sum for a family of two adults and a child is 1,473 euros per month. For a year, compared to March last year, the costs of living for one person increased by 40 euros, and for a family - by 73 euros. More than half of the workers, 58.3%, are insured on an income lower than the subsistence wage, the union also reports.

Citizens insured up to the amount of the minimum wage for full-time work represent 12.2% of all full-time employees. The annual price increase for food products is 6.2%.
