"If until recently the so-called ‘hard skills’, such as knowledge of programming languages and specialization, were of primary importance for software engineers, going forward there will be a growing emphasis on their ‘soft skills’.” This was stated by Patrick Dreish from Anthropic, who is responsible for the strategic implementation of artificial intelligence in business, during an AI conference in Sofia, as reported by Bulgarian News Agency.

According to the speaker, the accelerating pace of technological change requires rapid adaptability and an open mindset among professionals toward new tools - encouraging them to actively use and experiment with them. Dreish emphasized that he does not believe the need for software engineers will disappear within the next three years. However, their role may evolve - from executors to supervisors overseeing AI-driven processes.

Patrick Dreish is visiting Sofia at the invitation of the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies. He delivered a professional lecture titled “Developing and Securing Software in the Age of AI Agents.” According to the forum’s organizers, his presence in Sofia is of significant importance for positioning Bulgaria on the global AI map.
