The Podkrepa Confederation of Labour is organizing a march and a rock concert to mark May 1 - International Workers’ Day. The procession will set off at 11:00 a.m. from Sveta Nedelya Square and will head toward the Earth and Man National Museum, where a ten-hour rock marathon featuring some of the best Bulgarian musicians in the genre will begin at 12:30 p.m.
“The concert, as always, is called ‘Rock for Labour,’ because rock is the music of free people, and Podkrepa is the trade union that brought freedom to Bulgaria. That is why union members and rock fans stand on the same side of the barricade and will always support one another,” Ioannis Parteniotis, Vice President of the union, said in an interview for Radio Bulgaria.
He invited citizens to celebrate the holiday together, “because we deserve it - for ourselves and for the generations before us who made possible the better life we live today.”
