Yellow alert for low temperatures in six districts in southwestern Bulgaria

On Saturday, the lowest temperatures will range between 1°C and 4°C, in Sofia 0°C. The day will start with mostly sunny weather. In the afternoon, cloud cover will increase across the country, bringing rain showers and local thunderstorms. Winds will be moderate, temporarily strong in southeastern Bulgaria, from the northeast. Maximum temperatures will range between 10°C and 15°C, around 12°C in the capital city.

Along the Black Sea coast, cloud cover will be significant and rain showers are expected in some areas. More sunny intervals are forecast before noon. A moderate northeasterly wind will blow, becoming temporarily strong along the southern coast. Daytime highs will be between 11°C and 13°C. The seawater temperature is 12°C-14°C. Sea state 2–3 on the Beaufort scale.

In the mountains, cloud cover will be significant with widespread snowfall, and rain below 1,200 metres. There will be a moderate to temporarily strong north-northeasterly wind. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1,200 metres will be around 3°C, at 2,000 metres around minus 4°C.

On Sunday, cloud cover will remain significant over most of the country. Brief showers are expected in eastern Bulgaria and the mountainous regions. Breaks and temporary decreases in cloud cover will occur over Western Bulgaria. Minimum temperatures will range between 0°C and 5°C, dropping to around minus 2°C in southwestern valleys, where frost is expected. Maximum temperatures will range between 12°C and 17°C. At the beginning of next week, mostly sunny weather will prevail, with more significant cloud increases over eastern Bulgaria, but without precipitation.
