Bulgaria has been removed from the Watch List of U.S. trading partners that Washington considers to be failing to adequately protect intellectual property rights. This is according to Special 301 Report published by the Office of the United States Trade Representative under the administration of President Donald Trump.

It notes that ''Bulgaria is removed from the Watch List this year due to significant enforcement actions and progress in criminal prosecutions during the past year''. ''In January 2026, Bulgarian law enforcement seized the five most popular Bulgarian piracy domains, executed search and seizure warrants at 30 locations, and arrested several individuals'', reads the 2026 Special 301 Report.
