The latest project by Stefan Valdobrev is titled “The Acoustics of Bulgaria”. In it, the actor, singer and songwriter takes us to beautiful places across the country that have moved him during his travels and left lasting impressions and memories.
Following the release of the first single, “Svoboden” (Free) in 2025, the new song “Beauty” has now been released. Both songs are filled with optimism, light, freedom and beauty. Asked whether this is how he sees and hears Bulgaria while travelling, Stefan Valdobrev said:
“That's how I see it, that's how I hear it, and that is how I would like it to be. I believe Bulgaria is what it is in our minds, in our imagination, and in our hearts.”

The idea for “The Acoustics of Bulgaria” came to him after the release of the album “10 1/2” and the song “Po Poleka” (Take it easier) during summer tours.
“That was in 2016, and over the next four summers there was a lot of travelling. I always managed to steal a few moments, minutes, or even a day just to go out, explore, and absorb the beauty around us. I think I rediscovered it then and began to truly enjoy it. It started to energise and inspire me so much that I became addicted to it. Even when I had no trips planned, I would steal a few days, get in the car and go somewhere—just to sit, be quiet, and look around, and absorb the freedom and beauty. Then I said to myself: this is clearly a passion of mine, and I also have another passion—writing songs—so why not combine the two? To write songs and record them in these places. And instead of capturing it with my eyes, my mind, and my heart, or even on a phone as a photo, why not capture it in audio—the sound, its reverberation, its energy. And let it remain in the microphone, in the song, in the voice, in the instrument.”

“The Acoustics of Bulgaria” is a comprehensive project that will include an album of the same name, as well as a book and a documentary film in which Stefan Valdobrev will describe why he chose specific locations in Bulgaria and what inspired each song. The book and film will be released after the album, which he is already working on with his long-time collaborators and friends, “The Usual Suspects”.
