Sofia hosts the Golden Kuker International Animation Film Festival

The International Animation Film Festival “Golden Kuker – Sofia” runs from May 6 to 10 in the “Eye” Hall at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, the university’s Cultural Centre said.

The best films selected by the jury will be awarded at a ceremony on May 10. The competition includes entries from Bulgaria, India, the United States, Moldova, Italy, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Hungary and other countries. The programme also features the French short film Life with an Idiot (La vie avec un idiot) by Theodore Ushev.

Alongside screenings, the 17th edition of the festival includes workshops and discussions focused on animation as an art form.

Founded in 2010, “Golden Kuker – Sofia” is the first animation festival launched in Bulgaria in the 21st century. Organisers describe it as a meeting point for professionals from around the world and a showcase of both Bulgarian and international animation.
