Bulgaria has officially submitted to the European Commission its National Plan for Diversification of Natural Gas Supplies, in line with the new EU rules for the gradual cessation of Russian gas imports. The document presents the country's strategy for ensuring energy security through alternative sources, new routes and modernized infrastructure.

The plan envisages the development of the Vertical Gas Corridor, the expansion of gas interconnections and an increase in the capacity of the Chiren underground gas storage facility. It also focuses on access to international markets for liquefied natural gas (LNG).

"By preparing the plan, we have demonstrated a proactive position, contributing to the implementation of the common European goal of energy independence and sustainability," Minister of Energy Traycho Traykov said. According to him, the document reinforces the country's leadership role in ensuring energy security for the economies and citizens of the Old Continent.
