Normal traffic reported at all border crossings

Traffic through the country’s border checkpoints and crossings is normal, the Border Police said. At the Ruse–Giurgiu crossing with Romania, major repairs are underway on the Bulgarian section of the bridge over the Danube River. Traffic is being regulated in a single lane, the Border Police reminded.

Until May 14, traffic on the main road I-1 between Simitli and Kresna should proceed with increased caution due to partial asphalt repair works, the Road Infrastructure Agency said. Repairs will be carried along the stretch between kilometers 373 and 400 during daylight hours.

Twenty-six people were injured in 22 road accidents across the country over the past 24 hours, the Traffic Police reported. Since the beginning of the month, there have been 177 accidents, resulting in 14 fatalities and 217 injuries. Since the beginning of the year, 1,889 road incidents have occurred, with 141 fatalities and 2,348 injuries.

Firefighters extinguished 41 fires over the past 24 hours, the Directorate General Fire Safety and Civil Protection said.
