Burgas has the potential to develop into a hub for air taxis, cargo drones, and other unmanned aerial vehicles. This was stated by Todor Ivandzhikov, Chairman of the Association of the Bulgarian Aviation Industry (ABAI), during the fifth edition of the International Forum on Air Connectivity and Tourism in Burgas, BTA reported.

According to Ivandzhikov, the coastal city possesses a number of advantages for the development of urban air mobility - a sector encompassing air taxis, transport drones, and other unmanned systems. He revealed that several months ago ABAI sent a letter to Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov proposing that the former military airfield at Ravnets be transformed into a testing center for unmanned aerial vehicles.

In his words, Burgas’s proximity to the sea represents a major advantage, as it would allow testing to be carried out in real-world conditions far from the coastline and under a higher degree of safety.
