Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said he had called a meeting on Wednesday with ministers, regulators and control authorities to discuss measures to curb rising inflation. Representatives of trade unions and industry organisations from the agriculture and food sectors have also been invited to attend the meeting at the Council of Ministers.

"The critical condition of a number of sectors and the continued decline in citizens' purchasing power require clear priorities and urgent, adequate action," said Radev at the government's first regular meeting on Tuesday.

He added that a comprehensive approach was needed to protect Bulgarian producers, shorten supply chains, safeguard food quality, and improve resilience to external shocks.
