Farmers from Serres have said they are ready to launch protests at the Promachonas border crossing, reported public service broadcaster BNT. They cite unmet government commitments to farmers and livestock producers as the reason for their dissatisfaction.

At a general assembly at the border crossing, farmers will decide whether to stage only symbolic protests or move toward a full blockade of the border.

Traffic for passenger vehicles at Promachonas is not expected to be affected before midday, but after the farmers’ meeting, there is a risk that the road could be blocked in both directions. The protests are expected to affect only the Promachonas crossing.
