Fighting corruption will be a key priority for Bulgaria's Ministry of Interior. This was stated by Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev before journalists in parliament, according to BGNES.
The Interior Minister emphasized that he will visit every regional directorate of the Ministry before making personnel changes. Regarding the removal of state security protection provided by the National Security Service (NSO) from GERB leader Boyko Borisov and DPS leader Delyan Peevski, Demerdzhiev stated that the conditions for receiving state protection should be the same for everyone.
In this regard, the Interior Minister has requested a detailed report from the Ministry’s structures on all protected individuals so that action can be taken where inconsistencies are found.
According to Demerdzhiev, it should also be clarified how many people the National Security Service is actually capable of protecting, and on that basis determine the circle of individuals who will receive such protection.
