Bulgaria is establishing itself as a regional center for AI and high-performance computing. In the field of strategic technologies, our country is already walking shoulder to shoulder with leading European centers.
This was said by the Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation Ivan Vassilev at the opening of the Third Meeting of the Academies of Sciences in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Region. The theme of the forum in Sofia is "Artificial Intelligence as a Catalyst for Scientific Cooperation in the Black Sea Region".
Vassilev emphasized the role of the Bulgarian institutes INSAIT and GATE, which are key to the digital transformation. The role of Sofia Tech Park as the home of the Discoverer supercomputer and the future AI factory BRAIN++ was also emphasized, through which our country will be an active creator of the next generation of technologies, rather than their consumer.
The event is organized by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. It is attended by scientists from the academies of sciences of Romania, Moldova, Albania, Armenia, Serbia, Ukraine, Turkey and Azerbaijan, as well as members of the diplomatic corps, BTA reported.
