The new legal measures of the Rumen Radev government against high prices divided employers and unions at the meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation.
Businesses refused to support them in the proposed form and warned that vague concepts such as “fair price” could create more administrative burden than real effect for consumers.
The unions stood behind the two bills submitted by “Progressive Bulgaria” in parliament. They provide for changes to the Competition Protection Act and the Consumer Protection Act, which would give the state more tools to intervene in cases of suspicions of speculation, unreasonably high markups or market behavior that harms consumers, BTA reports.
