Bulgaria
supports and remains committed to the coordinated efforts of the EU
and the US to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, based on
the UN Charter and the principles of international law. This was what
Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova told her Ukrainian counterpart
Andrii Sybiha, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
The
two spoke during the NATO meeting in Helsingborg, Sweden. They
discussed the issues of security, energy, reconstruction and
logistics, as well as Ukraine's European integration and the expected
start of pre-accession negotiations by opening the first negotiation
cluster - "Fundamentals".
The
topic of the rights of the Bulgarian national minority in Ukraine -
the largest historical Bulgarian diaspora abroad, which is of
exceptional importance for the Bulgarian state, was also discussed.
