Bulgaria supports and remains committed to the coordinated efforts of the EU and the US to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, based on the UN Charter and the principles of international law. This was what Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova told her Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha‎, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced. The two spoke during the NATO meeting in Helsingborg, Sweden. They discussed the issues of security, energy, reconstruction and logistics, as well as Ukraine's European integration and the expected start of pre-accession negotiations by opening the first negotiation cluster - "Fundamentals". The topic of the rights of the Bulgarian national minority in Ukraine - the largest historical Bulgarian diaspora abroad, which is of exceptional importance for the Bulgarian state, was also discussed.
