Foreign Minister asks US to expedite visa waiver for Bulgarians

Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova raised the issue of Bulgaria's accession to the US Visa Waiver Program as soon as possible. The minister spoke with Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker. The meeting took place within the framework of the NATO Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Helsingborg, Sweden, the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

Petrova pointed out Bulgaria’s fulfillment of the technical criteria, as well as the importance of lifting tourist and business visas for Bulgarian citizens in view of the balance in strategic relations with the US. In the conversation, the US side confirmed its commitment to continue discussions on the issue.
